Silver
Awards
Me & My Guy
Nicholle Varga form Troop 578 is organizing a Me & My
Guy Valentine's Dance for her Silver Award Project.
Nicholle organized a dinner-dance for scouts and their
special guy. A commemorative photo and patch are also
part of the package. She enlisted the help of her
troop members and other volunteers to make this event
happen!

Troop 678 has an ongoing Silver Award Project.

Spring into
Service Karina Lucero form Troop 810 is collecting
candy-filled Easter Eggs and pre-filled Easter baskets as
part of her Silver Award. Donations will be given to a
local park to help with their Annual Eater Egg Hunt and
Spring Festival. Karina is also organizing volunteers
to "man" her craft booth at the festival.
Science in
Action Maggie Farrar, Emily Hefner, and Alyssa Strauss form
Troop 810 organized a booth at GirlFest 2007 this year
as part of their Silver Award Project. Their booth
helped younger girls understand some principles of science
and technology. Brownie Girl Scouts could earn their
Science in Action Try-It. The girls planned the booth
activities, recruited volunteers, and ran the booth for
hundreds of girls.
In addition, they took their show on the road and provided
Try-It Days for interested troops in the Service Area.

Gold Awards
Kim Jardine
from Troop 1160 is collecting new and gently used books
for a Book Faire to be held at a local elementary school.
More details to follow.
Susan Farrar
from Troop 599 is working with the Riverside Parks &
Recreation Department and City biologists to plan and plant
an exhibition garden of local plant life. The garden
in part of a much bigger beautification and education
project at one of the entrances to Sycamore Canyon.
Lauren Walker
from Troop 599 is organizing a Sports & Wellness Event
at a local elementary school. She recruited local
coaches, athletes, and other volunteers to run booths for
the children. Booths provide information about
different sports that the children may become involved in.
Some booths also will provide information about wellness and
health issues to the children and their families.
Caitlyn
Williams from Troop 599 is organizing donations and
volunteers to plant a memorial garden at a local elementary
school. The garden is in memory of a much beloved
local teacher.
